When there is no match

New or unreleased song in a Reel: why it may not match

A song that came out this week, or that has not come out at all, can sit in a Reel and still get no match. This is why, and the routes that work instead.

Why a very new track does not match

The finder checks the Reel’s audio against song catalogs. If a track is not in them, the honest answer is no match, and the site does not guess a title. That covers three cases: a release from the last days, a producer’s preview or snippet, and a leak or demo that was never published.

No match does not use a free identification

A no-match does not use one of your two free identifications, and neither do fetch failures from private or deleted Reels. There is a cap of 3 no-match retries a day. Before you paste, make sure the audio is the part you want; a voiceover and Original audio produce no match for other reasons.

What to do instead

  1. Read the caption and the top comments. New songs are usually asked about and answered there.
  2. Go to the creator’s or artist’s profile. An unreleased preview is often posted by the artist, and the track name may be in a pinned post.
  3. Use lyrics. If you can make out words, search by lyrics.
  4. Try another public Reel with the same sound after a few days, when the release may have reached the catalogs.

Questions

Why does a brand-new song not match?

The match compares the audio against song catalogs. A track released very recently, or never released, may not be in them yet.

Does a no-match use one of my free IDs?

No. A no-match result does not use a free identification, and neither does a fetch failure. There is a daily cap on no-match retries (3 a day) to keep the service running.

Should I retry the same link right away?

Not usually. If the song is simply not in the catalogs, the same link will not change. Try again after some days, or find another public Reel that uses the sound.

How else can I find an unreleased song?

Check the creator’s caption and pinned comments, the artist’s own profile, and the comments, where other people often name the track.
