Copy link on Instagram

The words are the same on a Reel, a post, your profile, and a Story. The clipboard is not. Read the path, then paste a public Reel into the box.

1. Copy from the screen that is open. Someone else’s Reel: tap Share (the paper plane), then Copy link. A Reel you posted: Instagram’s help says tap Sharing options at the bottom right, then Copy link. That manage control is in the phone apps, not on a computer. On a computer, copy the address bar once it shows the Reel path. For a feed post, Instagram’s help says Options, then Copy link.
  2. Paste into Notes and look at the path only. Pass: instagram.com/reel/ or /reels/ plus a short code, or a public video at /p/ or /tv/ plus a short code. A trailing ?igsh= can stay. Fail: the path is only a username (you copied the profile — open the clip first). A Story or Highlight is not a stable public file — Stories are a different job. A path with /reels/audio/ or /audio/ and no Reel short code is the sound’s page — the song isn’t on that page. A path that starts with /share/ is a redirect — open it until it becomes a Reel.
  3. Paste a passing URL in the box above. Where the icon sits on the iPhone share sheet, if you are already inside one Reel, is copy a Reel link. Which Instagram surfaces can be identified at all is what song is this on Instagram.

Private accounts

Instagram’s help says a link to a private account can only be seen by followers of that account. Copy link can still fill your clipboard. This site cannot sign in as a follower, so that URL will not name the song. That case is a private Reel.

Questions

Does Copy link notify the creator?

No. It writes a URL to your clipboard. It is not a like, a comment, or a direct message.

On iPhone, the share sheet’s first row has no Copy link. Where is it?

The top row is people. Copy link is an icon in the row under that, often past the right edge — swipe the icons. Tapping a person sends a DM. If the icon never appears, use Sharing options on your own Reel. Button-by-button for a Reel you already have open is the Reel-link guide.

Android says Copy URL instead of Copy link. Is that the wrong command?

No. Read the clipboard. The label can differ by app version. The path has to be a Reel or a public video, not the profile.
