Link or file
Song identifier for a link or a file you already have
This song identifier names a catalog recording from a public Instagram Reel, TikTok, or X link, or from a video or audio file you upload. A YouTube or Shorts URL is not accepted. Checking that a link opens is free. The match runs after you pay, from $1.90 for 10 songs. Other plans are on pricing.

What this song identifier accepts
The paste box and the upload button are the whole product. There is no second tool behind this page, and there is no microphone. If the source is a public link we can open, paste it. If you already have the picture-and-sound file, or only the sound, upload that. The same form sits on the homepage. This page is the map of which inputs are real.
| What you have | Paste it? | Upload it? |
|---|---|---|
Public Instagram Reel (/reel/ or /reels/), or a public video post (/p/ or /tv/) | Yes. A /share/ link has to resolve to one of those paths. If it does not, open the post and copy the link again. | Only when the public page cannot be fetched. Upload does not reach a private account. |
Public TikTok video, including vm.tiktok.com, vt.tiktok.com, and /t/ short links | Yes. | When the post will not open. The sound page on TikTok is still worth reading first if it already names the track. |
Public X post (x.com or twitter.com status link) | Yes. | When the post will not open. X has no sound page to fall back on. |
YouTube, including Shorts and youtu.be | No. The URL is rejected before a match runs. | Yes, if you have a screen recording or an audio file of that video. Many Shorts are also posted as a Reel. Paste the Reel when you have it. |
| Facebook, a Story, a private or Close Friends post | No. | A file you already hold can be uploaded. That does not fetch the private post. Stories expire and are not opened from a link. |
| MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, or a video file (MP4, MOV, WebM) | No. A link to a raw file is not a Reel, TikTok, or X post. | Yes. Read the file’s own title tag before you spend a lookup on a file that is already named. |
A file over about 9 MB is reduced in your browser to a mono 16 kHz WAV of its first 30 seconds, about 960 KB, so the video itself does not leave the device. That shrink is attempted up to about 600 MB. Above that, or if the browser cannot decode the file, the original is sent and refused if it is over the limit. The match is one title, not a chapter list. Where to cut a long video is find a song in a video. File-type detail for video is find song from a video, and for audio find song from an audio file.
CapCut template links are rejected. Read the audio name on the CapCut timeline before you export anything. That detour is the CapCut song finder. A Facebook URL is the same class of rejection as YouTube. The cases that page covers are Facebook Reels.
What this page will not do
It will not hum with you, and it will not search a line of lyrics you type. Words you remember belong in a normal search, which find a Reel song by lyrics walks through. A hummed melody belongs in a product built for that. Google’s hum-to-search is one of them. This form has nowhere to put a melody that is not already a recording.
It will not invent a title when the catalogs miss. Speech-only audio, an unreleased loop, a private stem, and a mashup that no longer resembles one recording come back as no match. The caption, the on-screen text, and the sticker are not read as a guess. If the sticker already says the song, believe the sticker until a preview proves it wrong.
It will not open a private account, a Close Friends list, a deleted clip, or an Instagram Story from the URL. A failed fetch in those cases is not charged. Uploading a recording you made while the clip was playing is a different input: you already have the sound. It is not a bypass of an account you cannot see.
It will not return a similar-song suggestion, a mood, or a list of tracks that “feel like” the clip. One fingerprint, one catalog hit, or an honest miss. People who want a neighbor of the song, rather than the song itself, are on similar song finder, which does not pretend this match does that job.
Do this
- Read anything the app already printed. A music sticker, a TikTok sound page, a YouTube track chip, or a filename that is clearly “Artist - Title” is the answer. Search it. Use the form when that label is missing, says Original Audio, or is only a username.
- Paste a public Reel, TikTok, or X link.
Copy link, not the profile and not a screenshot of the address bar. An Instagram
/share/URL must open into/reel/,/p/, or/tv/. The tap-by-tap copy is how to copy an Instagram Reel link. On a computer, the address bar is enough: find a Reel song on PC. TikTok’s own sound page, when the link fails, is TikTok song finder. X posts are Twitter (X) song finder. - Upload when the URL is the wrong kind, or the public page will not open. Press “No link? Upload a screen recording instead.” A Shorts link never becomes a successful paste. Record the Short with sound, or upload the audio you already saved, and keep the song inside the first half-minute of a large file. Do not send the file through a site that asks you to log into Instagram. That warning is identify the song without downloading.
- Pay for the match, then check the preview. The page can tell you the link opened without naming the song. Naming it runs after you pay. A no match uses one credit. Play the preview when Apple Music, Spotify, or Deezer provides one. A sped-up clip often returns the original recording, which is a hit, not a different song. How to tell those apart is is the Reel song match right.
Shazam, Google hum, and aha-music
Those three answer a nearby question with a different input. This site does not replace a microphone in a café, and it does not listen to every browser tab. Use this song identifier when you have the link or the file. Use the other row when you do not.
| ReelSongFinder | Shazam | Google hum | aha-music | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What you give it | A public Reel, TikTok, or X link, or an uploaded audio or video file | The song playing into the phone microphone | A melody you hum, sing, or whistle. Some Google song-search screens also listen to audio playing nearby | Audio playing in a browser tab, through their extension. It is a separate product |
| Muted Reel or Short | Yes, from the public link, or from a file you upload | No. The mic hears silence | Only if you can hum the tune from memory | Only if that tab is actually playing sound |
| YouTube or Shorts URL | Rejected. Upload a recording of it | Works if you play the Short out loud | Works if you can hum it, or if a listen mode can hear it | Works if the Short is playing in the browser with sound on |
| Humming, with no recording | No | Not its usual job. It matches a recording it can hear | Yes. That is the point of hum-to-search | No. It hears playback, not a melody you invent |
| Install | None. The form is the page | The Shazam app | The Google app or Google Search | Their browser extension |
| When it is the wrong tool | You only remember the melody, or the clip is private and you have no file | The phone is muted, the hook is tiny, or the room is loud | You have the actual recording and should not have to sing it | The Reel is muted, or the clip is not playing in a tab the extension can hear |
Shazam remains the right backup when a speaker is playing and you cannot copy a link: a shop, a car, someone else’s phone. Holding a second phone up to a muted Reel is the slow version of pasting the URL. When that mic path is the one you need, the Reel-specific order is Shazam alternatives for Reels and the SoundHound alternative. SoundHound is another mic app. It is not this form.
aha-music does not receive your Reel URL from us, and we do not run their extension. If the browser is already playing the clip with sound, their extension can hear that tab. If autoplay is muted, it hears nothing, which is the usual phone state. Paste the public link here instead of unmuting a room.
None of these rows is a scoreboard. This page does not quote their prices, their hit rates, or their catalog sizes. Those numbers are theirs. The only price stated here is ours: the match runs after you pay.
When a song identifier misses
A miss is a catalog result, not a broken paste. Work down the list once. Repeating the identical file usually repeats the identical miss, and each no match uses one credit.
- The URL was the wrong host. YouTube, Shorts, Facebook, and Stories fail before recognition. You were not charged for that rejection. Switch to a supported link or an upload. Do not keep pasting the same Shorts URL.
- The fetch failed.
Private, deleted, region-blocked, or a
/share/link that never became a Reel. Not charged. Copy the link from the post itself, or upload a clip you already have. The share-link case is a /share/ link is not the Reel. - The music is under talking or noise. A loud voiceover, sound effects, or a room recording can bury the hook. Paste the public link so the match uses the file rather than the room. If the mix itself has almost no music left, another public clip of the same audio is a better retry. That case is song under a voiceover.
- The edit moved too far from the recording. A mild speed change often still hits the original. A large pitch shift, a mashup, or a remix that replaces the vocal often misses, or returns only the one recording that still dominates. Details: sped-up or remix songs.
- The track is not in the catalogs. Unreleased snippets, a bedroom beat, and some library music have nothing to hit. We do not fill the gap with a plausible title. What to try next is new or unreleased songs and when a Reel song is not found.
- The wrong stretch was sent. On a large file the first 30 seconds are what get heard. Silence, a cold open, or a different track at the start is the sample. Trim so those seconds are the song.
- The match is a real song, and it is the wrong one. Play the preview. Check the album and the artist against what you hear. A dominant sample can outvote the vocal you noticed. If the preview is a different record, stop. Do not save it and hope.
Original Audio is a label, not a diagnosis. It means Instagram did not attach a licensed sticker. The audio can still be a known single. It can also be the creator’s voice and nothing else. Listen once before you pay for a match that cannot exist. The label is explained on Instagram Reel original audio.
After a title comes back
You get the title and artist, cover art when a catalog provides it, and a short preview when Apple Music, Spotify, or Deezer returns one. Store buttons are direct links when the match includes them, and ordinary search links for YouTube Music, Deezer, and Amazon Music otherwise. Saving the track is add the song to Spotify or Apple Music.
The audio match does not hand you an ISRC. Once you have a title and artist you trust, the separate ISRC lookup searches the Deezer catalog for the recording code. That lookup is free. It is not a second identification, and it will not hear the clip again. Remixes and live versions carry their own codes. Read the album and the release date before you copy one.
A result you unlocked stays on its own link. Paid access follows the checkout email. Another browser uses Restore. Pack credits are spent on a no match. Unlimited and the Year Pass do not spend pack credits. Amounts and the fair-use cap are on pricing, not restated as a new offer here.
Which page you actually wanted
Stay on this page when the question is “what can I paste or upload?” Background music, a track with no lyrics, a remix, or an original-audio sticker is the music identifier. How a fingerprint works, why a noisy or sped-up clip fails, and what is sent with the file is song recognition. Those pages use this same form. They do not change the price or run the match before you pay.
The homepage remains the shortest path when you already know you have a public Reel link. This song identifier page exists so the other sources are stated in one place, including the ones that are refused.
Questions
Can I paste a YouTube Shorts link?
No. A youtube.com/shorts link, a youtu.be link, and other YouTube URLs are rejected before any match runs. Upload a screen recording or an audio file of that Short, or paste a public Reel, TikTok, or X post of the same clip if you have one.
Which files can I upload?
Video: MP4, MOV, and WebM. Audio: MP3, M4A, WAV, and OGG. The picker also accepts other audio or video types your browser can choose. A screenshot, a photo of a waveform, and a lyrics note have no sound and cannot be matched.
Does a hummed tune work?
No. The match needs the recording, or a clip where that recording is clearly audible. A hum, a whistle, and a sung impression are not the catalog recording. Use a product built for humming if that is all you have.
The sticker already shows a title. Should I still paste the link?
Search that title first. Paste the link when the sticker says Original Audio, is blank, names the creator instead of a song, or you do not trust it. The match uses the audio, not the sticker text.
Is a miss charged?
A no match uses one credit. A failed fetch, a file the page cannot open, and a system error are not charged. Checking that a public link opens is free. The match itself runs after you pay.
Can one long video name every song in it?
No. You get one match for the stretch that is heard, not a timed list. A large upload is reduced to the first 30 seconds of audio. Cut a clip around the moment you care about and run that.
